Family Night at School

On Friday Night the PTA at our elementary school sponsored a family night:  a pasta dinner and dance in the gym to culminate Spirit Week, a week of dressing up and festivity for each day.  Friday was tropical day.   Everyone in our family was able to go!  We did sort of have to drag the preteen (who is not a fan of dancing) along, but it was a fun night together.  I was happy not to have to cook supper on a Friday night.

Perhaps Mr. Trouble on Feet was the most excited  of all.  He loves visiting big kid school, and he’s quite the dancer.  His bopping is punctuated by leaps, high kicks, and attempts at the splits.  As soon as he and I walked in the gym after he finished his pasta, The Banana and some other friends grabbed him and stuck him in the middle of the locomotion line.

The Banana and a few of her friends found her kindergarten teacher from last year.  This teacher is not only amazing, but she’s also a great sport.  She’s always willing  run a long race or dance with her students.  I love that.  There were a bunch of little girls doing a circle dance with her at one point.

He’s not pictured in any of these images, but Mr. SP had a great time slinking around with his friends and joining in on the dances he thought might be the most fun.  Both Mr. SP and YaYa take after me:  they approach dancing somewhat apprehensively.  All three of us make nice wallflowers.  Dr. Peds loves to dance, and he’s amazingly great at it, so thankfully we have The Banana to keep him busy.  Here they are dancing the Lindy with a few extra twirls thrown in.  It was pretty adorable.
