Documenting the Snow from Last Week
Care to swing? Good luck.

This is our deck. The dip in the middle is where Uncle Don shoveled a path to the fire pit at Christmas.
The snow in our backyard is almost as high as the car.
I’m just taking a moment to document the snow in our yard last week. Over the weekend we lost one or two inches when the temperature rose, but then we gained a couple of inches back last night. I’ve lived with snowy winters my whole life, and I don’t really mind. In fact, I love snow, especially fresh snow that keeps coming on a nice schedule, maintaining a crisp, blinding white scene. I remember living in North Dakota, especially as a teenager, and getting through some very snowy winters, but that snow is a little different than the snow in Northern Minnesota. On the prairie the snow blows constantly and forms hard drifts. Sometimes the drifts are enormous. However, in between the drifts, there is less snow. This winter has been exceptional because we have had a lot of snow and a lot of cold, and here things don’t drift as much, the snow just falls and stays. Because we have had minimal melting, almost all of our 107 (or more?) inches is still sitting outside. The snow might have settled a little, and tiny bit has melted, but really, it’s mostly just still around. Everywhere. There is just a tremendous amount of snow wherever you look.

Oh My! It looks like the winters I remember when I was a kid. When playing in the snow we would fall through and yell for someone to pull us out. Makes me feel grateful how little snow we have. Again Oh My!
