Happy Birthday Greg

My husband was a sweet, sweet Valentines Day baby (and a large one at that). Wednesday was a very crazy day at our house, but we managed to get in a few minutes of celebration right before bedtime. Due to the fact that I was having a crazy, crazy afternoon and evening, I didn’t get a chance to bake a birthday cake like I had planned. I was saddened by this. The kidlets were distressed by this. So to make everybody happy, while I zipped up kiddos into their jammies and disposed of diapers, diapers, diapers, the birthday boy ran to Target after taking the babysitter home (from when I was teaching lessons) and picked up a package of his favorite treat: chocolate mini donuts. There is nothing more industrial and disgusting in my mind, but he LOVES chocolate mini donuts. So while he was on the phone I plunked down three on a dessert plate, one for each decade, and located the silly #30 candle he found for my birthday a few months ago, and smeared some leftoever frosting from Ms. Crazy Preschooler’s birthday cake venture around the donuts in the shape of a heart. Everyone happily sang, blew out candles, and then Destructoman melted down because he couldn’t have a second glass of chocolate milk (the kid soaks through almost every night, so we try to limit liquids in the evening). It was a sweet, strange celebration, but everybody seemed to like it even though I was not able to do my domestic duty.
