Chimes
After hearing big, beautiful wind chimes at a local garden shop shortly after we moved here, I wanted a set of my own. It’s been at the back of my mind for years. Every spring I consider it, especially when I visit that garden shop! However, wind chimes seem like a bit of a frivolous expense, so I talked myself out of it each year.
This year, though, I decided to splurge. I ordered the Corinthian Bell wind chimes. They arrived last week, and I haven’t regretted purchasing them one bit. My wind chimes are tuned to the D scale, and they sound melodious and musical. There is no clanking to these wind chimes. The sound reverberates and mixes in random waves of goodness.
Every breeze brings a new tune, and some of them are just delightful, so delightful that I want to run inside and write them down on a piece of manuscript paper. Sometimes I just lie on the warm boards of the deck with a pillow under my head and my eyes closed, enjoying warmth from the sun. As the chimes ding, I actually see intervals, notes and sometimes even chords appearing on snippets of music staffs (in treble clef). That’s the kind of music geek I am.
I also hum dissonances with my electric toothbrush, but that’s another post.
