YaYa Learns to Mow the Lawn

Friends, I have done the calculations.   For at least  the next 14 years I will have a child labor force capable and employed to mow the lawn.  Hooray!

YaYa was not excited to learn to mow.  In fact, drama was involved, but in the end I think she discovered that it wasn’t as bad as she though it was going to be.

I’m grateful for Dr. Peds who knows how to handle all the drama in our family (including mine) and patiently shadowed his first born to show her how to mow all the different parts of the yard, to go around trees, to pick up objects hidden in the grass.  Yes, that’s him in the bug net.  A crop of little biting bugs had just hatched in the front yard.
There was just one small casualty on YaYa’s first mowing excursion:  a baseball bit the dust.  Well, to be more specific, it sort of exploded when it hit the lawnmower blade. I was going to take a picture of the baseball, because it was really quite humorous, but I got so wrapped up in the act of photographing the lawnmower that I forgot about the baseball in its shredded glory.
