Sunday Night at the Beach: Grandma Kathy Visits

When Grandma Kathy was visiting, we brought her along to the beach on Sunday night.  It was more than slightly hairy getting everyone in the car to get to the beach.  Several people were frazzled from some major homework battles, and there was a lot of drama, a lot of repeating of instructions, a lot of last minute projects that led to delays, and well, I may have had a slight meltdown, which left me with a fervent desire to scrub down my kitchen.  Instead of cleaning the kitchen, I got in the car with everyone else, and after we arrived at the beach and I listened to the gurgling waves, I felt a lot better.  Water.  It’s so calming to me.

This image is one that most people would probably just pass by, but it is a frame that my mama-heart just loves. My whole family is on one rock, and each one of them is doing something different, scrambling about, skipping rocks, catching waves, grouching.  It’s exactly what they do at the beach, wrapped up into one picture. I bought Mr. SP a new sweatshirt at the thrift store.  Within days he had poked holes in the cuffs to make fingerless mittens.  I can’t complain too much, because I love fingerless mittens on a sweatshirt too.
