To Eat Meat, or Not to Eat Meat, That is the Question.

Last spring The Banana decided to become a vegetarian.  It’s a long story, worthy of a post in and of itself.   Ever the determined girl, she is sticking with her dietary choice, which means that if the rest of us are having hamburgers, The Banana is eating quinoa burgers, and if we are having steak, perhaps she’s having eggs or humous or cottage cheese.  She eats a lot of spinach.  We have done a lot of reading on how to feed a vegetarian kid.   Mr. Trouble on Feet adores his big sister.  He likes the food she eats, (well, maybe not the spinach)  so he usually has both quinoa burgers and hamburgers.  The other day, at the dining room table, he declared himself a vegetarian.

Mr. TOF:  I a tarian.

Mr. SP:  You can’t be a vegetarian.  You are not big enough to decide that.

Mr. TOF:  I big enough!  I a tarian.  I like quinoa burgers.

The Banana:  Quinoa burgers are good.  But you eat meat too, and you can’t be a vegetarian if you eat meat.

Mr. TOF:  I a tarian who eats meat.  See?

And then he swallowed a big bite of juicy hamburger.
