Marching Band Guy

This week I have loved watching Mr. Trouble on Feet take all the details that he paid such close attention to at the Applefest parade and incorporate them into his play.  I love how watching all those marching bands has inspired such great pretending.  There was a band that marched wearing sunglasses.  Mr. TOF dons a pair of plastic blue shades and picks up his black recorder, which he refers to has “mine oboe” and marches down the front sidewalk.  There were several bands that had students playing the bells in the percussion section.  Mr. TOF rigged up a glockenspiel to his “heavy drum” strap so he could march around playing both instruments at once.  The fireman coat is temporarily being used as a marching band uniform.  He saw lots of band use fancy steps in their marching, and he copies them with gusto.  There’s even a blue recorder mixed in with the bathtub toys in case he feels like playing a little music while he’s having a bath.

I love that of all the things a preschool boy could pick to be obsessed about, he continues to adore marching bands.
