  • Two of my kidlets now have email addresses. Every once in awhile they send me messages, and every time I get a message I’m shocked again (can they really be old enough to have their own email?) and thrilled because they’ve written me a message.  Written messages are my love language.  Email is my love language.  My heart zings a little when my own progeny send me email.
  • I love that I have three completely independent readers.  I also love that my middles give me book recommendations.  Even better are the days that they give each other book recommendations.  Still better yet are the days that they tell me they’ve both read a book and that it would be a good book for me to read out loud to them.  Again.  Because they liked it so much, and they know I will make it even more exciting with my voice.  That makes me swoon a bit, and I usually indulge, because who doesn’t like to be read aloud to by a good reader.  I think it’s why audiobooks are so popular.  They are the grown up version of read alouds, and they make driving so, so much better. Also, I feel thankful for all those experiences in competitive speech and those years of coaching 7-12 speech team that influenced my oral interpretation skills.
  •  In the past two weeks four teenaged students have asked to play hymns at their piano lessons, and one of those teenagers was even related to me.  Yes!  Yes!  Yes, you MAY play hymns, as many hymns as you could ever possibly want to play, arranged in whatever style you would like!
  • A few weeks ago we plumb clear ran out of toilet paper around here.  It usually doesn’t happen because I stock up on massive quantities of toilet paper to avoid emergency situations, but somehow between having company over Christmas and avoiding shopping whenever possible, and plain old not bothering to pay attention, we did run out.  Thankfully Dr. Peds had gotten home from work right when it happened.  I let him know we needed toilet paper desperately, and the good man that he is, (a man who does not mind shopping) he brought home a large package of toilet paper along with some much needed groceries.  When he walked in the door The Banana ran right up to him and gave him a great big hug, squealing, “Yay!  Toilet paper!  You bought toilet paper!”  It was quite the dramatic welcome.
  • I love sleeping in during the middle of the winter.  I really do.  I truly just get up better with the sun.  It makes me so happy when I have the opportunity to wake up at the sunrise instead of far before it, which is normal for a school morning around here.  I keep reminding myself that in a few months I will feel a lot better again about getting up so early as I hand my children boxes of cereal to pour for themselves rather than really make breakfast.
  • I wrote out the plans for winter preschool music class yesterday morning.  I’m so glad its all written out so my head can breathe a bit easier again, and I’m excited to start, while relishing my extra few hours in the morning until February.
  • Mr. TOF is “Artist of the Week” at preschool.  We are working on several projects at home this weekend for him to display at school next week.  It’s exciting.  Sometimes I forget to art with this little boy.
