What I Learned in March

March was a crazy month that sent me into “stay with the routine and survive with your nose to the grind” mode.  This month’s learning list is short.

I did learn a FEW things, though:

  • Avocado is  a terrific addition to a smoothie.  It thickens everything up and somehow makes the smoothie taste just like ice cream even if it is packed with spinach.  I’ve always been OK with avocados, but nice me they haven’t been a fruit to seek out until now.
  • I relearned how to correctly hold the bow of my cello 2 times this month.  For some reason I just have a very difficult time grasping this, and just as it starts to feel like I’ve figured it out I find out from my cello teacher (such a kind person) that really I’ve regressed and I’m doing it all wrong again!  Hopefully now I’ve finally figured it out for good.
  • I learned to play 7 new songs on the cello.  Two of them are still major works in progress.  (Oh how I have been practicing this instrument, and practicing and practicing, and I’m going places so, so slowly!  I’m still determined though.)
  • I learned what a viola da gamba is, and got to see and hear one play in person at the St. Matthew Passion.
