Tough on Footwear

Old shoes.  New shoes.  Dr. Peds bought Mr. Sneaky Pants new shoes before school last fall.  He always buys shoes a bit big because Mr. Sneaky Pants is a growing machine.  I can’t even imagine how he’s going to go through shoes and clothes when he actually hits that boyish growth spurt that happens in middle school and early high school.  Seriously, the kid already has feet bigger than my size 10 women’s shoes.  He’s ten.

Not only does he outgrow shoes fast, but he also completely wears them out.  When he’s done with a pair of shoes, there is truly no life left in them.  Last week Dr. Peds looked down at Mr. SP’s very stinky  shoes and declared that an intervention was necessary.  The old shoes were too small, and  they had holes in the bottom and on the sides.  Humorously, he actually found the exact same pair of very nice sneakers  at the store where  he bought the last pair in the fall, and they were on super clearance, a size bigger.  Perfect.  He brought them home, and the comparison between the two sets of shoes gave me quite a chuckle.
