A New Look

Mr. Sneaky Pants got a haircut and eyeglasses all in one day.

A couple of weeks ago he came home from school positively distraught, a pink vision screening slip in his hand that recommended further consultation from an optometrist.  Mr. SP was angry and upset because he “hadn’t planned on getting glasses until middle school at least.”  He was terrified that everyone would laugh at him if he got glasses.  He was sure that he’d loose the glasses and break them.  He was sure that his classmates would be mean if he wore glasses at school.  He begged me to throw away the screening sheet and not tell anyone he needed glasses.   He was sure the world was ending.  He’s my pessimistic boy.

An appointment was made.  Last Wednesday, after a quick trip to the barber, he and Dr. Peds drove downtown for an eye check.

Glasses were definitely in order, and a few hours later he had a snazzy pair of spectacles on his face.

I happen to think they look quite stunning, myself.

In the end, Mr. Sneaky Pants is actually quite happy to be able to see things clearly.  Vision comes in pretty handy, it turns out.

He’s been taking great care of his glasses.  Don’t worry.  He might look a little different, but he’s the same kiddo, without a doubt.

I think he looks great, Greg had showed me a picture last weekend, and the Haircut is stunning to say the least. He looks more like his dad with the shorter hair. Love it.
