What I Learned in May

  • One of the best ways to start learning the arm motion for cello vibrato is by sliding a tennis ball up and down on the string while the other hand runs the bow.  My kids think it sounds like a bizarre bumble bee and looks crazy too.
  • I learned nine new pieces of cello music and two short piano pieces.
  • There are more than 50 different  known mosquito species in Minnesota, and they are timed to hatch out during different times of the summer season.  Some hatch voraciously all at once, lay eggs and then die until the next year (their eggs have to freeze in the winter to hatch again).  Others have multiple generations throughout the summer season.  There are more than 3,000 known mosquito species in the world.
  • I learned all about the bitter melon, thought  to be the most bitter fruit/ vegetable in existence.
  • I tasted ginger for the first time (covered in chocolate).  I’m still not sure what I thought about it.  It’s pretty strong, but not necessarily a bad taste.  Still, I”m not highly anticipating ever eating it again.

Hey there! We are neighbors over at Emilys place, sharing what we learned in May! I had no idea there were so many species of mosquito’s. I have never tried bitter melon, but I do love Ginger! Learning 11 new songs in one month is super impressive! Great getting to know you a bit!
