Camping at Temperance River: The Hike

We spent the middle part of last week camping at Temperance River State Park.  Way back in January we reserved  the same campsite we used last summer, because it’s pretty much the most perfect campsite ever. You look out of your tent and can see the lake.  You walk across the campground road and you are on the beach of Lake Superior.  Glorious!  The campsite adjacent to ours was open as well, so we snatched that up too, and asked our neighbors half way down the street if they would like to come camping as well.  We had the perfect weather all week, and spent nearly all day every day in or on the water of the river or Lake Superior.  Late in the day one afternoon, we all took a hike up the gorge.  This gorge never gets old for me.  It also half scares me every time I experience it. At the top of the gorge the river flattens out, and there was a calm little area that we let kids wade around in.  Lots of kids were tired and hungry at this point, but playing in the water always seems to cheer people up and stave off their need to eat.

If you look closely, you can see Dr. Peds and Mr. SP on the rocks.

The Banana built this in the river.
