The Story of Two Hair Styles

When the kidlets were little we had these adorable animal pots. You fluff up some dirt, add grass seed and water, and the grass grows into hair. Just before Easter I happened to see them in a store (truthfully it was the only store I had been at since before Christmas) and I couldn’t resist getting each kidlet still at home one for their Easter basket. Nostalgia! Plus, they really are fun because you can cut the grass hair as it grows. Who doesn’t like growing things in the spring?

Unfortunately The Banana dropped her chicken pot Easter morning and it broke, so she never got to plant hers. The Devious Snail and Mr. TOF planted their pots on Easter Sunday, and sure enough before the week was out hair was sprouting! Within a few days Mr. TOF cut his critter’s hair. Then he cut it again in a few days. He asked The Devious snail if he wanted to use the scissors to spruce up his creature’s grass hair.

“No,” replied the Devious Snail thoughtfully, “I think I’ll let it grow. I want to see how long it gets.”

Of course.

These critters couldn’t have hairstyles that mimic the personality of each brother more!

This weekend, however, The Devious Snail was a bit put out when his sister put ponytails and braids in his critter’s hair, which made the grass get, well, a little crazy and damaged. In the end he decided that maybe a cut was in order. After all, hair grows, right?
