Swimming Weather

When it gets hot In my city, people head to the beaches. As a city, we don’t handle heat well because it doesn’t get hot that often. But there’s always a few hot days every summer, and everyone copes by going down to the cold, cold water. Tonight my neighbor texted to see if anyone wanted to go down for a late night dip right after the sun set. I said, “Me!” The Devious Snail was here and able to watch Peanut Maximus, who was already in bed after a chilly bath to cool him down. I was sweating and sticky and couldn’t think of anything better!

We headed down to the secret beach, where all sorts of people were coming and going, and everyone was taking a late evening dip in the water. The water was perfect: silky smooth and cold, but tolerably cold, just what you want when you are hot and sticky. There was even a group of 20 moms in all sorts of shapes and sizes beside us. Everyone needed a cool down and was having fun in the water.

I love living next to Lake Superior so much: the cold, crystal water without weeds or slimy stuff. It even smells fresh and clean. After a dip in the water on a hot day you feel so calm and ready to relax.
