Practicing Project

For the past few years at the end of December or beginning of January I have picked a difficult piece to learn with the intention of diligently practicing it for 100 days and then seeing how it turns out. The days do not have to be consecutive, but I try to be as consistent as possible, so they are mostly consecutive days. I’ve ended up learning to play some pieces I never thought I would actually be able to play, which keeps me motivated to begin this challenge during the winter season. This year I picked a Rachmaninoff prelude that I’ve always loved. I love a lot of Rachmaninoff preludes, but they are difficult, so I haven’t learned many of them. I’m pretty excited about learning this one. I started learning it once a long time ago, but some life circumstances happened, and I abandoned it to work on some other pieces.
Every day I make a tally mark after I practice it, and it just feels good.
