Happy Birthday YaYa: One Decade Old

We started the day out with peanut butter blueberry baked oatmeal (YaYa’s request) in the bathtub.  There was a bit of drama getting everyone in, and not all kidlets were overly excited about the breakfast menu, but when they settled in, everyone seemed to actually eat their portions, although Mr. Sneaky Pants didn’t think he was going to make it squished way off to the side in the tub.  He was very concerned with people touching his bowl.  We even managed to get Baby Katherine in the tub for a few short minutes.   She didn’t stay long, however, because that bathtub was a hopping place with two toddlers!  Spoons were flying!  Blueberries were sailing!  Peanut butter goodness was being snarfed up.  I think Alex was a fan of breakfast in the bathtub.  At one point he even stood up and did a little jumping and dancing routine.

There were presents to be opened while the grown ups had some breakfast.

The table cloth was signed by all present, and the birthday festivities were put on hold while Auntie Dot and her family rounded up most of their possessions to load up in the car.  We all wished they could have stayed longer.  Right before they were ready to jump in the car, we remembered to have the birthday treat!  YaYa didn’t want a cake this year.  She had made plans long ago to have glazed donuts. so Dr. Peds had earlier made a trip to pick up glazed donuts for everyone, and found a giant frosted donut to put candles in for the picture.  Donuts were scarfed up by everyone.  One glass of milk and one glass of water were spilled (I was the culprit of one of the spills).

Our guests were sadly off, and after a bit of feeling glum, I put Mr. Trouble on Feet down for a nap and Dr. Peds took the big kids out to lunch for pizza at YaYa’s request.  Toys were played with upon their arrival, and books were read. There were birthday phone calls from Grandmas.  YaYa requested chicken pot pies prepared at the grocery store for supper, so her request was accommodated.

She gleefully avoided cleaning up and chores since it was her birthday, and she bargained for privileges to stay up until 10:00 p.m., since she was ten.

Ya Ya looks like you had a great 10 year birthday. So neat to have your younger cousins with you. What a great bunch of kids in the tub. So much fun and a fun idea. I like the dounut idea also. Is the Highlight magazine still coming from Grandpa and Grandpa Mason? Hope you are enjoying it. Love you Ya Ya!
