I Tried, Really

To celebrate the start of first grade, Grandma Robbie sent Sarah some special money to go shopping for a new outfit.  The only thing she asked in return was that I take a picture of the first grader in her new clothes.  Sarah had her heart set on this stripey dress and sweater with colorful buttons, but our local store did not have her size, so we had to order it special.  The UPS man delivered it in time for Sarah to wear the outfit to school on Monday.  She was terribly excited.  She loves running and leaping like a gazelle in this outfit more than her average clothes, for some reason.

After school, she was perfectly cooperative when I mentioned that we needed to go outside and take a picture of the outfit for grandma.  It was almost slimy, the way she was so very pleasant about the entire affair, right up until the moment I actually looked behind the camera.  At that point it was all over.  She could only muster goofy faces, crazy poses, and a lot of wild jumping on the sidewalk.

But the truth of the matter is that this is really how she is, especially when she gets home from school. The pent up energy comes out with wild abandon.  Currently, I'm just thankful I can throw her outside without having to mess with a snowsuit.
