Our Newest Costume

Yesterday I zipped down to the children's museum to rummage through their fundraising Used-Things sale.   It was a large garage sale in the hallway to raise money for scholarships to the children's museum, and I can't resist a garage sale, ever.  I found a few good finds, but the best was this little boy costume.  When I was checking out, the guy at the cash register looked at the attire and asked, "Is that a dress?"

"No,"  I replied.  "It's a costume of some kind."

"OK, I'll just charge you a dollar for it then."

And then another museum worker glanced over and said, "Oh, that's a costume from Batman."

Good glory!  I knew right then that I was going to be a hit when my mini van rolled up the driveway.  My little guy loves superheros, and when Dr. Peds looked at it and said, "Oh, you found a Robin costume from Batman," Mr. Sneaky Pants was off searching for additional superhero gear from his stash.  He found a pair of goggles.  And a cape.  And be it far from me to try to tear him out of that getup.  We didn't even attempt persuading him to wear regular clothes to the beach yesterday evening.  Mr. Sneaky Pants was very, very excited about the prospect of leaping off of boulders with his superhero costume.  Several months ago he found a Batman comic book at the library, and he's been crazy about Batman ever since.  He often remarks on some guy that has to do with Batman having extremely long fingernails.  Maybe it's Batman himself?  I'm shamelessly superhero illiterate, it seems.
