Cleaning Up

Yesterday morning Sarah decided she would have a tea party breakfast. This involved placing Cheerios, dehydrated apple rings, and a few chocolate chips on the tiny tin plates that came with her tea set. She poured lukewarm water out of her teapot into the little tea cups, and ran back and forth to the sink to refill the teapot as necessary. After a bit, she decided it seemed more interesting to have a teaparty “experiment” so she added water to the dehydrated apple rings, choclate chips, and Cheerios “to see what happens.” I’m not so sure what her original hypothesis was, but I CAN report of the final results: a very, very soppy mess. Which, being the cruel mother that I am, I calmly insisted she clean up. And she wasn’t really even overly frustrated with that idea. She readily climbed up onto the step stool to wash her dishes. And she was joined by a certain little curious helper.

Unfortunately for me, dishwashing turned into another hour-long experiement. That, you guessed it, led to an even bigger mess.
