Wave Watching

Grandma Kathy, Auntie Dot, Cousin Alex, and KaKa came to visit for the weekend.  The weather was rainy and stormy, which meant that we couldn’t always get outside like we might have liked, but when I realized that the wind was coming from the perfect direction to make some big waves on the Lake,  I presented the idea of wave watching during a time that the rain had momentarily stopped.

Before we got to the beach we stopped at the mouth of the Lester River to watch some surfers catching waves out on the water.  The colors of the lake were amazing.  I adore crashing waves.

As soon as we arrived at the beach the kidlets were out of the car in no time flat.  Mr .SP immediately snuck away down the store, which he is not supposed to do, so I had to go and wrangle him back to the area we were at.  While I was doing that, Ka Ka fell and started bleeding from her mouth.  While Auntie Dot and Grandma Kathy were ascertaining that she was OK, Cousin Alex decided to go swimming in a little tide pool a big wave had created.  Luckily he jumped in from a rock toward the shore instead of out to sea.  The pool was only a few inches deep, but he was pretty much soaked from head to toe needed a full change of clothing.

This is Cousin Alex right before diving in.  I happened to be watching through my camera.  Life is always an adventure with Cousin Alex.  You just never know what is going to happen next.

This is Cousin Alex, banished to the car until a spare pair of proper footwear could be located.  After that was all taken care of the kidlets ran around like crazy.  You would have sworn they were on a sugar high, except that they weren’t.  Mr. TOF and KaKa loved playing chase.  Mr. SP was playing games with the waves, hopping from rock to rock and seeing if he could keep his tennis shoes dry.  He lost.  Eventually someone started jumping off a picnic table, and soon all the kidlets gravitated that way.

Eventually we drove everyone back home for some supper.  It was a wild and crazy time, and great that everyone had the opportunity to run off some energy.
