Pumpkins Marching One by One

My internet is back!  (And the phone is working!)  My computer, however, is sadly still stuck in the computer hospital.  I’m hoping they call with some information about what is wrong with it and how they can fix it tomorrow.  It is sorely missed, and I’m really hoping that it can quickly be completely fixed without a loss of any files.  I’m trying to be patient and flexible with my circumstances.

I moved Dr. Peds’ computer into my office and I’m using currently using that.  I’m grateful that he is allowing me to use it, but I’m reminded of many of the reasons why we agreed NOT to share a computer when we got married!  We just don’t think alike in how we approach a computer, and his is just set up all wrong!  It’s so inefficient for me to use at times, and I really miss all my files and bookmarks and how I have things organized.  Ack!  But, I’m trying to be patient.  Flexible.

The monitor on this computer is not calibrated, which is unnerving to me because I never know for sure what exactly I’m looking at.  Patient.  Flexible.  I’m trying, I really am!  Things might look a bit wonky for a a few days.  I’m very thankful, however, that photoshop was miraculously installed onto this computer.  I think it must have been transferred over a long time ago from an old, old computer.

Without further ado, here are some pumpkin pictures!  We carved pumpkins yesterday afternoon.  Squirmy amazingly slept through all of the chaos, which was very handy.  I helped all the kidlets scoop out the pumpkin guts with my favorite heavy duty ice cream scoop.  It does a fantastic job with all of the stringy slimy goo inside a pumpkin.  The Banana wanted a picture of Ya Ya and herself on her pumpkin, and I drew that on and fretted a little bit about how I was actually going to manage to carve something so intricate through the super duper thick pumpkin skin.  Dr. Peds came to the rescue with his power tools and saved the day.  I’m not sure exactly what kind of power tools he used, but he got the job done efficiently.  Mr. SP drew the face he wanted on his pumpkin on a piece of paper, and then I copied over to the actual pumpkin.  He was very excited about the scary teeth.  Ya Ya contemplated long and hard about how she might make a spooky mansion, and eventually she and Dr. Peds examined some templates on the internet and compiled the features they wanted onto the pumpkin.  The mansion was very complicated and detailed, and required a lot of different power tools to make it happen.  Let me tell you, it was a messy affair.  We decided that in the future that whatever power tool was used to scratch out the pumpkin skin half way would be better suited to outdoor pumpkin carving.  There were pumpkin shavings sprayed over nearly every square inch of the kitchen by the time the pumpkin was finished.  The end result is pretty neat, though.

The baby pumpkin is Squirmy’s of course.  The Banana actually helped me carve it on Thursday morning. We took it along to preschool so it could be used for decorations at the annual Boo Ball.  We thought the toothless grin was very appropriate.

I’m hoping to post more about the Boo Ball and costumes tomorrow.  I’m really behind on EVERYTHING at the moment.
